How to Volunteer
The ACPC is able to offer affordable long-term psychotherapy to those who might otherwise not be able to afford it through the generous efforts and commitment of the therapists that volunteer with the clinic.
Individual therapists in private practice commit for a minimum of 2 years to work with a patient through the ACPC during which time they receive weekly consultation from a senior clinician. The therapist and consultant develop a relationship that allows for the exploration of the clinical process from a psychoanalytically informed perspective, offering a rich opportunity for learning and mentorship. Consultants make a commitment of at least one year and may choose to continue for a second year.
This model of service to the community allows individuals to access long-term psychotherapy for a low fee ($20-$80 paid to the clinic) while offering therapists an opportunity to deepen their clinical skills.
