"Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Sex, Laplanche, and Soul Weaving (but were afraid to ask)"
Presented by Michael Levin, PsyD
Please join us for the first in a series of three Pre-EBOR scientific meetings, where Michael Levin will offer a lucid and inviting introduction to the thought of Jean Laplanche. This presentation also provides an illuminating overview of the part played by Laplanche’s work in the psychoanalytic theory developed in Here I'm Alive: The Spirit of Music in Psychoanalysis, co-authored by Adam Blum, Peter Goldberg, and Michael Levin.
Learning Objectives: Upon completing this scientific meeting, participants will be able to:
1. Describe and discuss Jean Laplanche's theory of the origin of the "apparatus of the soul" within the framework of his General Theory of Seduction.
2. Describe and discuss Jean Laplanche's theory of the differentiation and development of the "apparatus of the soul" within the framework of his General Theory of Seduction.
3. Describe and discuss the role of Jean Laplanche's work in the theory presented in the book Here I'm Alive; The Spirit of Music in Psychoanalysis (Columbia University Press, 2023).
