Brought to you by the Jungian Psychotherapist's Association
"Healing Trauma: The Lost and Recovered Soul in Depth Psychotherapy" – Presented by Donald Kalsched, Ph.D.
Dr. Kalsched is a Jungian analyst and clinical psychologist who lectures nationally and internationally on the subject of trauma and its treatment. His books include THE INNER WORLD OF TRAUMA, and recently, TRAUMA AND THE SOUL: A PSYCHO-SPIRITUAL APPROACH TO HUMAN DEVELOPMENT AND ITS INTERRUPTION. In this JPA Public Event, Dr. Kalsched will address what occurs when trauma strikes into the developing psyche of a child and a split takes place in which the vital core of the self retreats into the unconscious.Depth Psychotherapy offers the opportunity for renewed contact with the lost core of the self, and hence for renewed feeling-life, creativity and relatedness–but not without fierce resistance thrown up by the psyche’s defense powers. Dr. Kalsched will explore new findings in attachment theory, affective neuroscience, and somatically attuned ways of working in the here-and-now of the psychotherapy process. Clinical examples, dreams, and illustrations from literature, art and contemporary films will be brought in by the speaker.
