Franco Scabbiolo, of Oxford, UK, will be coming to Seattle in September 2019 to give three talks at The Center for Object Relations on his revolutionary psychotherapeutic way of working with patients. Scabbiolo, long-time student of Donald Meltzer and rebel within the psychoanalytic community, has disavowed psychoanalytic dogma, exchanging it for a creative, spontaneous, and lively connection with his patients. A clinician first, he is creating a new way of working that enlivens rather than deadens, awakens rather than anesthetizes, creates rather than destructs.

In these three talks, Scabbiolo will show with clinical material, films, and dreams how abandonment of internal objects generates confusion, delusions, psychosomatic symptoms, and abandonment of the search for hope, truth, and beauty.

Scabbiolo will attempt to bring the attendees into his consulting room, sharing his and his patients’ internal worlds and the way they creatively collide to open up new experiences and spark emotional aliveness.
