This online course will explore the evolution of internal objects in analytic literature. The tradition of British Object Relations is solidly grounded in their psychic existence as organizers of internal life. This course will focus on how different authors have conceptualized, enriched, transformed, and used the notion of the internal object, with attention dedicated to our own clinical work. We will read authors such as Klein, Bollas, Winnicott, Eaton, and Grotstein.
