The Thirteenth International Evolving British Object Relations Conference (EBOR) is a virtual event spanning two weekends, October 8-9 (individual papers) and October 15-16 (plenary presentations) with Nicola Abel-Hirsch and Avner Bergstein. Sessions are 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (PT) each day.
Dr. Eshel believes that contemporary psychoanalytic approaches can extend the reach of psychoanalytic treatment to more and the most disturbed patients, to more deeply disturbed aspects of all patients’ personalities and experiences, and to difficult treatment situations.

In this presentation Caron Harrang discusses Grotstein’s (2004) “The seventh servant: The implications of a truth drive in Bion's theory of ‘O’” and its relevance to the theme of EBOR 2022: Truth and Lies.

Truth is. Truth is also impossible to bear. In order to bear it, we resort to representation: illusion, imagination, and symbolic representation that makes truth uniquely personal to each of us. That is not to say Truth is only subjective, constructed for the use of the individual. Truth also exists outside of us. Bion calls Truth ‘O’.
