Recognition Theory, Intersubjectivity and the Third with Jessica Benjamin, PhD

In Beyond Doer and Done To, Benjamin expands her theory of mutual recognition and its breakdown into the complementarity of ‘doer and done to.’ Her innovative theory charts the growth of the Third in early development through the movement between recognition and breakdown, and shows how it parallels the enactments in the psychoanalytic relationship.

SPSI: “A Psychoanalysis for Inner & Outer: A treatment model for addressing psychic and social oppressive conditions based on the work of Paolo Freire” with Martin Bullard, LICSW

Contemporary psychoanalysis searches for its own identity, endeavoring to be just, inclusive and a healing perspective in our changing and chaotic world.

Martin Bullard, LICSW, a white male clinician, will present ideas and experiences in cross racial psychoanalytic work having to do with difference, identity, and the analysis of oppressive conditions. Martin will discuss how the ideas of Brazilian radical educator Paolo Freire help him “widen the scope” of psychoanalysis to include both internal & external oppressive conditions.

#WithUkrainianJungians Reading Groups - Ann Ulanov’s paper: Making the Unsayable Experiential: Ukraine and Jung’s Red and Black Books.

Please come and support our Ukrainian colleagues this September and October.

Joe Cambray will be leading an international team of facilitators with expertise in the Red Book, as we join around 90 colleagues from the Ukraine to discuss Ann Ulanov’s paper: Making the Unsayable Experiential: Ukraine and Jung’s Red and Black Books.

This will be a unique opportunity to meet with a small group of Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian colleagues for deeper work together on the prima materia thrown up by the war on Ukraine.
