Join child and adolescent psychoanalytic experts from across the country for two days of enriching clinical presentations, discussions, and networking in Seattle. Explore how psychoanalytic approaches to childhood inform adult treatment, innovative models for emerging adults, the transmission of trauma across generations, and the cultural dimensions of early mentalization. The conference also offers a special welcome gathering and social dinner to foster community. 

PROGRAM

Analytic approaches to listening have favored something that is more akin to vision, consequently shaping the technique, aims and understandings of psychoanalysis in terms of the production of understandings and meanings. The aural aspects of listening have mostly been subsumed under this emphasis on the visual. Two models of analytic listening based in the visual are initially presented, listening-for, and listening-to. Illustrations show how listening in these approaches emphasize "seeing" (i.e.

Humility is rarely spoken about in the field of analytic therapy and psychoanalysis. Dr. Panajian will discuss the various perspectives of the meaning of humility. Humility from the perspective of religion, spirituality, philosophy, and psychology will be explored. He will discuss the possibility of unconscious omnipotence dominating the field of psychoanalysis.

British Object Relations II - From Theory to Practice with Collin McFadden, PhD & Eric Borgh, MA, LMHC

Foundations of British Object Relations with Sean Jackson, MA, LMHC; Ann Glasser, PhD; Adam Schneider, PhD; Trevor Slocum, MA, LMHC; Christine Hutchison; Eric Borgh, MA, LMHC

This course will span the academic year --18 sessions-- and will explore the context and development of the basic but complex object relations concepts arising from Freud and expanded upon by Klein and later theorists and clinicians. We will also consider necessary conditions for growing a mind, and the clinical implications when that process is affected by neglect or trauma.

This course serves as a historical and theoretical introduction to psychoaesthetics, focusing especially on the pioneering work of Donald Meltzer and continued developments in the Atelier (psychoanalytic working group) of his apprentice, Franco Scabbiolo. It has been developed in close creative collaboration and consultation with Scabbiolo over the last 5 years, and may be seen as a complement and companion to the clinically-focused webinar offered by Franco in the Spring.
